본문

On Wednesday, March 31, the Director of the Institute of Indian Studies, Professor Kim Chan Wahn, hosted the second Korea-India 2030 Forum. The event was conducted online and was thematically divided into two sessions. The talking points of the forum were weaved around--“A Great Change of Culture and Values for the 2030 Generation of Korea-India". The forum hosted by our Institute saw massive participation which included presentations and discussion by Researchers from Universities across Korea as well as India; with a total of twelve Korean and ten Indian participants.

The first session titled “Korea-India 2030 Generation and Media” was further divided into two subsections into the following themes:

“The Role and Impact of Social Media”; “Indians viewed by Koreans” and “Koreans viewed by Indians”.

Significant among the discussions was the impact of the Korean wave (the Korean culture taking India by storm) making its inroads into India and the role of media in strengthening cultural exchanges between the two countries.

The second session titled “Differences in Lifestyle and Values for Korean-Americans 2030 Generations” included nine presenters who analyzed the characteristics of the MZ generations of Korea and Indian MZ generations in various fields such as—marriages, family views, consumer behaviour, attitude towards life, and how these views are evolving based on significant difference in lifestyle compared to their parent’s generation.

Both sessions of the forum then conclusively analyzed the similarities and differences in terms of the values and cultures of the 2030 Generations of Korea-India followed by an interactive question and answer session where participants engaged with one another's cultures in greater detail.

The Korea-India 2030 forum was concluded with the promise to meet again to continue and promote the academic exchanges led by the Institute of Indian Studies, which provides a platform for students and young researchers from both Korea and India to deeply engage with each other’s cultural values among other things.
